Style File Friday: Autumn is here!

I love autumn SO much, I can’t even begin to narrow down the clothing ideas and options. It’s chilly enough that you can layer. You can wear cute boots, but it’s also still warm enough that you can get away with heels if you so choose. Although, in my opinion, nothing beats an awesome sweater and a great pair of boots!

I love the warm colors in this outfit. The orange (but it’s not TOO orange or bright for my skin tone) and the earrings that are earthy and compliment the leather boots. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Let’s go pick some pumpkins!

Style File! Summer Casual

I was looking back through my archives (thanks to a weird influx of spam comments. UGH, SPAM! I shake my fist at you!), and I realized it had been a while since I’d put together a virtual outfit that I’ll never own. ::sigh:: But one can dream, right?

So, here is my summer casual style file! Although I love the look of jeans, in the NYC heat and humidity, I just cannot stand to put denim onto my body. I end up spending most of my time in skirts and dresses and rompers.

The meat of the outfit, is this little dress/romper. I wish it was a little longer, as I don’t tend to wear things THIS short, but still. It’s super cute and looks very cool.

I would add a belt to it, simply because with my body type, styles work better when they accentuate my waist. I’d go with a skinny camel colored belt, so that I could accessorize with browns–and wear these absolutely fabulous shoes! I’m completely lusting after them.

Lastly, no outfit is complete without a handbag and in summertime? You can’t leave the house without a pair of sunglasses!

Style File – Business Casual

I am currently drowning in a sea of revisions and copyedits! So, we are gonna stick with a Style File Post for today! Last time, I chose a super casual outfit–one that I would go write in at a coffee shop. And you know what? After I posted it, I actually went and bought the coffee shop sweater from ModCloth! Oy, internet. You are a bad influence.

That being said, this outfit is much more business casual than the last. I’ve been drooling over this skirt for over a year (yeah, literally…not kidding). Only, I haven’t been able to find it ANYWHERE in stores. I’ve gone so far in thinking that maybe I should go to a thrift store and buy an old poofy prom dress and pay to have it re-purposed. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN BUY THIS SKIRT???

This is the exact outfit I love to wear to conferences–both photo and writing. It’s adorable, professional (though sometimes as Katana Collins, I dress a bit more glitzy) and really stands out. It also looks so comfortable, right??

The colors work well together–the pale pink (almost a creamy pink) and olive green are opposites on the color wheel (though a more subtle hue of the opposites) and probably the reason this goes so perfectly.However, I would probably substitute little kitten heels for the ballet flats.

What do you think? Anything you would switch out?
